  Shellie Ross, a popular mommy blogger and Twitter personality, suffered a personal tragedy recently when her two-year-old son, Bryson, fell into the family pool and drowned. He slipped away from her side while the two were outside in the family’s backyard. Ross immediately called the paramedics, but sadly, it was too late. Half an hour after calling an ambulance, a distraught Ross reached out to the community that made her a success and sent a message out on Twitter that read:

  “Please pray like never before, my 2 yr old fell in the pool.”

  That simple sentence has sparked an uproar that has many (especially the Switched team) horrified with how this grieving mother has been treated during such a difficult time.

  'Family Guy' Teams With Microsoft for Windows 7 TV Extravaganza

  To mixed reviews, Microsoft tried being all fluffy and sweet while advertising its new operating system. Now, it’s time for Plan B — comedy. Enter ‘Family Guy’ creator Seth MacFarlane and Alex Borstein (a.k.a. Lois Griffin), who agreed to produce a Microsoft-sponsored variety show. The comedy extravaganza/marketing ploy will air November 8th on FOX, a couple weeks after Microsoft releases Windows 7 on October 22nd.

  Fortunately, you won’t have to sit through annoying commercials, since, as Advertising Age reports, there’ll be Windows-branded content throughout the program, which is tentatively titled ‘Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show.’ Microsoft is being coy as to just what this integrated material will be, but Gayle Troberman, general manager of consumer engagement and advertising, says, “We’ll be evoking the cast of ‘Family Guy’ in some interesting ways that integrate the product messages.”

  It’s probably the scariest friend request you’ll ever get: Your mom (or dad… or, God forbid, grandparent) has joined Facebook – and they want to connect.   The late Senator Edward M. Kennedy developed a reputation as one of the most tech-savvy statesmen in U.S. politics, particularly due to his having the first Web site hosted by a member of Congress. Despite the Senator’s recent passing, that reputation is being maintained through a Kennedy family Twitter account.

  On Thursday, thousands of people lined the route to, and waited in line at, the John F. Kennedy Library, where the Senator’s body will lie in repose until his burial Saturday at Arlington National Cemetery. Frequent tweets informed potential visitors and distant well-wishers about the size of the crowd (”If you couldn’t get to JFK Library tonight you’ll have another opportunity Friday from 8 to 3. Public encouraged to be in line by noon.”), the length of the visitation line, guests in attendance, and the feelings of Kennedy family members (”Mrs. Kennedy said people outside kept saying ‘thank you for opening this up to the public and letting us say ‘bye’ to him too.’”).
